![]() In the past, Epic has been very generous compared to other storefronts like Steam, and has ensured that developers don't miss out. Interestingly, there hasn't been any statement yet on how GOG and Epic will be sharing revenue which could be a crucial factor for developers. You'll still need to have an Epic Games Store account to buy games via GOG Galaxy but at least you'll have a choice of which launcher to play the game via. In comparison, GOG doesn't place a limit on how long game time needs to be. That's more generous than the Epic Games Store's own refund policy which allows refunds for up to 14 days after purchase, providing you haven't played for over two hours. It also used the time to reiterate that users will still be covered by its 30-days refund policy as well as 24/7 human support. In a statement, GOG announced how since the launch of GOG Galaxy 2.0, the ' most requested new feature has been the option to buy games not only from GOG.com but from other platforms as well,' so the company is ' happy' to start work on this. For now, the process is only available by invite only for beta users of the GOG Galaxy 2.0 app but, obviously, the plan is to expand this further down the line. That includes games such as The Outer Worlds, Mechwarrior 5: Mercenaries, and Mortal Shell. The next step in this grand plan is to work directly alongside Epic, adding the ability to browse and purchase a number of Epic Games Store former exclusive titles all through the GOG Galaxy client. The plan all along for the company was to use GOG Galaxy as a launcher for players to organise and browse all their PC games in one place with plugins used initially to streamline the process. If GOG Galaxy 2.0 does manage to pull this off, we might see Discord in some hot water.GOG has taken another step forward in its plans for what seems like world domination by partnering up with Epic Games to turn its GOG Galaxy store into a universal storefront. Discord has managed to implement this rather flawlessly, but it doesn't allow a manual configuration of your games library. While more of a hinderance than a problem, having to maintain 4 or 5 clients for all of your games is a pain, so if GOG can intergrate this the way they want to, it will be absolutely incredible.ĭiscord recently launched a similar service, offering a "Quick Games Launcher", which gives you the option of opening your game through the Discord app, rather than having to manually open the game client - like Steam. We are still not sure how they will be incorporating a universal chat system between consoles and PC users, but this is a plan of theirs in the future. For added fun, you can compete with your friends, no matter the platform, on a leaderboard system, when it comes to your statistics. Furthermore, console integration will allow you to chat to your console buddies, and will give you access to information such as trophies, hours played, and games that you own across your gaming network.Ĭompiling all of this data into a single location, gives users a central hub - or nexus, if you will - for them to access their own, and their friends, gaming activities, through a "universal" gaming activities feed. Once they have all been consolidated, you can customise your own library to your liking, as well as launch any PC game from the GOG client. The intention for Galaxy 2.0 is to create a central hub for your gaming, not only across your PC clients, but across all your gaming platforms, including consoles. ![]() The current form is a similar PC client we have seen before - like Steam - allowing you to buy, browse, and launch GOG games. Not only will your game libraries be integrated, but so will your friends lists, giving you and your mates a single place to not only play games, but communicate, and share your experiences. The ambitious client aims to consolidate all of your PC gaming libraries into a single interface, including Steam, Origin, Uplay, amongst others. GOG.com, or Good Old Gaming, has been a trust PC storefront for quite some time now, and aims to shift the PC client space with the new GOG Galaxy 2.0 client.
